Jeff Bezos on Management Style and Philosophy
I recently came across a great video with Jeff Bezos where he talks about his management style and philosophy.
In it, Bezos shares some key points that he believes are important for effective leadership, which I found very insightful. Here are a few that resonated with me the most:
-
𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: Pursue what excites you. Passion is a gift that fuels your energy and drive.
-
𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀: Be proud of the decisions you make, not what you were given. Your gifts are your starting point, but your choices shape your path. The most successful people combine their talents with hard work.
-
𝗕𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁: Great leaders consistently make sound decisions. Here are some things they do to achieve this:
- Consider multiple options and ideas. Don’t settle for the first solution that comes to mind.
- Be open to changing your mind based on new information.
-
Challenge your own assumptions and biases.
-
𝗕𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: Hold fast to your vision, but be adaptable in your approach. Important things take time and persistence, but you also need to be willing to experiment and learn.
-
𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲: Failure is an inevitable part of the invention process. The most groundbreaking inventions come from trial and error, with a lot of mistakes along the way. Don’t be afraid to take risks and learn from your setbacks.
I highly recommend watching the full video to get the complete picture.
