Gemini 4 Argon is Google’s bid to catch up with the frontier models already out from OpenAI and Anthropic, shipped first to trusted cyber defenders through the Fairwind Program and already running in Google’s own workflows. That first cohort, and Google’s internal teams, get it without cyber guardrails, so they can find, validate, and patch critical software vulnerabilities on their own, while everyone else waits on the U.S. voluntary pre-release review and another round of guardrail work.
Google says the model holds up on real software engineering and on knowledge work in legal and finance, and it is raising the output limit to 1 million tokens from 64,000. Introductory pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, and the later price is $4 and $20 per million, with paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers named as the next group once that wider release is ready.
